Recognizing the Best in Automotive Retail: Cars.com 2025 Dealer of the Year Awards
Largest Dealership Review Platform Reveals Best Dealers Across North America; Subaru, Acura and Volvo Stand Out as Highest-Rated Brands
CHICAGO, March 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Car-shopping marketplace and dealer reputation site Cars.com® (NYSE: CARS) today announced the winners of its Dealer of the Year Awards, presented annually to the top automotive dealers across North America. Auto dealers were honored as Cars.com Dealer of the Year recipients based on more than 1.3 million online consumer reviews submitted in 2024. Winners were chosen according to key drivers of repeat and referral business, including average star rating, total number of reviews and dealer response to those reviews.
"Local dealerships are the backbone of the automotive industry, which is why our annual Dealer of the Year Awards highlight those who put in the work to provide excellent consumer experiences," said Jamie Oldershaw, vice president of customer experience at Cars.com. "With more than 13 million reviews on Cars.com, shoppers are able to select the best dealership to work with while local dealers and automakers leverage these valuable insights to improve operations and meet the needs of consumers. Automakers that support transparency, responsiveness and seamless transactions across their dealer networks contribute to an all-around superior experience."
Nearly 90% of Dealer of the Year honorees actively respond to consumer reviews, compared to just 45% of nonwinning dealerships. High levels of responsiveness and individual dealership employee accountability continue to win out as top predictors of dealer success in the Dealer of the Year Awards. Nearly 60% of Dealer of the Year winning dealers leverage Employee Profile Pages for their dealership staff and more than 200,000 dealership employees received more than 1.4 million individual ratings last year. Dealers can track what consumers think of their business if they utilize Cars.com's Experience Report.

Brands With the Best Experience
While individual dealerships play a crucial role in shaping the car-buying experience, a brand's overall reputation also influences consumer trust and loyalty. Beyond local interactions, car shoppers consider how well automakers support transparency, responsiveness and seamless transactions across their dealership networks.
Cars.com evaluates consumer feedback across six categories when measuring brand reputation: pricing transparency, trade-in experience, transaction speed, financing experience, review responsiveness and vehicle inquiry responsiveness. Considering 24 months of consumer reviews, Subaru — and Acura and Volvo among luxury brands — emerged with the highest overall review ratings.
Cars.com Dealer of the Year Award Methodology
The Cars.com Dealer of the Year Awards are presented annually to the top automotive dealers with 25 or more reviews based on the dealership's average star rating and the total number of reviews written about the dealership during the 2024 calendar year, as well as management response rate to those reviews.
